오늘은 유튜브 '구슬쌤'의 be supposed to 강의를 보며 퇴근했습니다.
Opic, 영어회화에서 한번쯤은 꼭 써야겠다 싶더라구요.
공부하면서 정리한 내용 다음과 같이 공유합니다~!
Be supposed to의 3가지 활용
1. 예정되어있는 가까운 계획 (하지만 꼭 그렇게 된다는 보장은 없을 때)
I'm supposed to meet David next monday.
* Be going to 와의 차이
Be supposed to : 특정 행동을 하기로 약속했기에 실천해야할 의무감은 들지만 꼭 지켜야하는 의무 X
Be going to : 실천하고자 하는 의지가 있고 실제로 일어날 가능성이 높을 때
즉, 확신의 정도 → Be supposed to < Be going to
I'm supposed to meet my friends : 친구를 만나기로 했어요.
I'm going to meet my friends : 친구를 만날거에요.
2. 예정된 날씨를 말할 때
It's supposed to rain today.
It's supposed to snow today.
3. 과거의 규칙, 관습 등으로 조언/경고할때
You know, You're not supposed to smoke in here.
Come on. You're not supposed to do that.
* 과거형으로 사용할 경우 : ~ 하기로 되어 있었어/ ~ 하기로 했었어.
I was supposed to hang out with my friends, but i was too tired.
See, this was supposed to be easy.\
We were supposed to meet for lunch, but he didn't show.
* 의문문으로 사용할 경우: ~해야하는거야? ~ 하기로 되어있는거야? (답답하고 짜증나는 경우)
Where am i supposed to go? 도대체 어디로 가라는거야?
What am i supposed to do? 나보고 도대체 뭘 하라는거야?
